Stefan's Weeknote's 24/08/2024

Inspired by the weeknotes of friends and coachees including John Fitzgerald, Steve Messer and Nour Sidawi - I thought I'd give it a go.

Here's a dive in to the success of this past week.

I start with the successes; because it's easy to look into the dark rather than the light. Isn't it?

Hope you enjoy it; comments, observations and thoughts welcome.

  1. What have I been up to? (Question inspired by @James_ Arthur_Cattell  week notes)

It's been a busy week.

  • Training rides = V02 Max (2hrs), Endurance Round The Island (4hrs), Push on (2hrs), Rest, Zwift Ascending Aerobic Blocks (1hr22).

  • Coaching: Including Charity CEO, Design Lead and Head of People,

  • Chatting with Liam O'keefe from Solstice Sprint, Sharon Dale and Steve Marshall

  • Looking after Will and Vera for 4 days (summer hols)

  • Preparing for my 4 day break to Cornwall with Dominique - yay.

2. What's been good about this week?

  • Adored my coaching sessions this week; a real feeling of adding value and working with like minded but coming at it from different perspective clients; I like that.

  • Training gone well; achieved my highest 90 min power output on the bike after a tough couple of days riding before - which is extra special.

  • Reshaped my diary for my return from Cornwall including 2 1/2 days opening of the little boat and new group coaching slots.

  • Lovely time with the kids; took them to see despicable me 4 which we all loved.

  • The thought of a mini-break with Dominique and riding the bike around the island with her on Tuesday.

2. What am I grateful for?

  • I am grateful for the calm I have created. I'm getting ready to inject a little more 'umph' again - but it will be very focused and my intention is not to upset the balance I have.

  • I believe its important to walk the talk or at least attempt to; if my approaches don't work for me - how can I cascade them to others. That doesn't mean I have to be perfect.

3. What could have gone better?

  • This week; the main thing that could have gone better is a few cancellations in my diary; they couldn't be helped but they do make you look at your forecast and think 'shout out and try and fill them?' or use the time to 'grow the business' or 'work on the back office'. 'Grow' won. All good.

4. What am I reading?

  • No reading this week; I know - that feels bad - apart from all of the wonderful Linked-in posts I read and see - some crackers from Esther Patrick this week; you should follow her on linkedin.

  • Esther reciprocates too - always useful when people comment (intelligently) and share - increasing your reach. Thank you Esther.

  • I did watch this brilliant interview between Ultra Swimmer Ross Edgley and Rich Roll which has some amazing analogous thoughts for what's needed to peak at an elite level. Think elite sports, think elite leadership. think elite team member. it's also helpful for me thinking of my exec and sports coaching crossover.

5. What am I wishing for?

This week, I am wishing for a fabulous few days away in Cornwall. As I said in my chat with the fabulous Steve Marshall - my life is more balanced than it has ever been. My corporate self wouldn't have believed it; but and its a big but - I have rarely taken a holiday in my life which didnt involve house move, house or garden renovation or some big project; this is a break and may involve 1 gentle bike ride.

6. A Last Word

My final word of the week is 'determination'.

Why? two coaching clients who are making waves in their worlds and beginning to make ripples wider were 'cajoled' by me into reflecting upon their successes and what had brought them about; their superpowers and both talked about determination.

You see sometimes you might not know how, you might not believe you can and you might not know what your next step is - but when you are determined to find a way because of the cause you are following and who you want to be - you often end up finding a way.

The part I play in unlocking the commitment which sits beneath determination and the laser sharp focus upon what, how and when and with whom; coupled with why - to accelerate the journey.

If you need help with finding determination or translating that into action or success; get in touch. Thats in my 'wheelhouse'.

Let's keep growing together

Stefan

An executive coach who specialises in helping good people lead great things; their great things for the betterment of humanity - sounds big and fun - it is.
