“I’ve got—if I’m lucky—30 or 40 years left. I want them to be full. Not just long, but light-bringing.

On my 49th birthday, I’ll make a declaration. On my 50th, something more public. And then—another 50 years of practice.

But this week, I also saw what hasn’t shifted enough.

How the world still fails good people. How ‘good’ often gets lost in the noise.

We need to flip that. Now.”

“I attended a local Time Trial race this week—and I’m wrestling with the idea of racing again.

Long rides at pace? Not really doing it for me anymore.

Touring? Yes. Not slow. But not racing either.

Still—I’ve set the wheels in motion to do a TT again before the year’s out.

Why? An experiment.”

“What I’m noticing at the edges this week is a loss of momentum—around climate, sustainability, and the will to act.

It’s not that people don’t care.

It’s that the urgency is being muffled by fatigue.

The language is becoming stale. The commitment fragmented.

In conversations across sectors, it’s creeping in:

“We’ll circle back to that.”

“We’ve got more pressing priorities.”

“We’re not sure the messaging’s landing.”

But the planet doesn’t pause because our focus shifted.

”.

“….And we reflected on how ‘1 to 5 degrees of difference’ across those dimensions can actually be where the magic lives. Enough common ground to feel seen. Enough contrast to be stretched.

That difference doesn’t dilute the coaching—it deepens it. Especially when the coach brings breadth. Not just depth in one vertical, but perspective across. That range shapes the quality of questions asked, the patterns spotted, and the space held.”.

“It also reveals something bigger—how on (or off) it an organisation really is when it comes to developing its people. When leadership development becomes just another procurement task, something vital gets lost.

I’m thinking of writing about it—maybe a blog, maybe a provocation.

“If you want to build a ship, don’t drum up people to collect wood and assign them tasks, but rather teach them to long for the endless immensity of the sea.”

—Antoine de Saint-Exupéry”.

“There’s a shift I’m sensing - not loud, but undeniable. More leaders are naming their fragility. Not as weakness, but as truth. The old armour doesn’t fit anymore, and the systems around them are slow to catch up. At the same time, I’m hearing the quiet rise of boldness - leaders are asking better questions, not just faster ones. Choosing alignment over urgency.

It feels like we’re on the edge of a different kind of leadership - one rooted more in congruence than control and one which is slowly realising that direction and clarity is not control; it’s actually freeing. ”.

““Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world.” – Margaret Mead

At the edges of my work, I’m sensing a shift – an opening. More people are talking about doing good work. Not just efficient or scalable or high-performing work – good work. The kind that’s thoughtful, systemic, human. People are commenting on my brand and message more, and there’s a gentle, growing sense of alignment”.

Fire & Legacy - Stefan’s Week-notes 25/04/2025

“This week felt rich with connection and future-facing energy. I adored a session I held with a leader and influencer in the digital space—someone shaping bold ideas in bold spaces. We explored their longer-term vision and how their current work connects deeply to that purpose. Together, we uncovered how their platform could become a playing and prototyping ground for future strands of impact. It was one of those sessions that reminded me why I love this work: vision, purpose, and play all in the mix”.

“This week has been a bit of an ebb and flow, like the sea—gentle highs and lows, each moment bringing something new. Here’s a quick rundown:

I’ve decided to make my Weeknotes shorter moving forward. It’s been cathartic to write in long form, and I’m grateful for everyone who’s taken the time to read the details. But it feels like it’s time to lighten many facets of life now, and that includes this little practice of reflection”

Optimism - Stefan’s Week-Notes 18/01/2025

“As a coach, my belief is that the growth we gain from leaning into challenges and lessons is where life is at. This mindset encourages optimism, persistence, adaptation, and confidence and in turn empowers clients to push beyond their limits and perform at their best.

Optimism isn’t about ignoring reality—it’s about believing that growth is always possible. A positive perspective transforms potential into achievement”.

Faith - Stefan’s Week-Notes 10/01/2025

“Amidst these reflections, I’ve come to understand that embracing faith fosters a sense of peace. This peace arises when we accept the unpredictability of life and surrender to a higher will. In this acceptance, transformation becomes possible; it paves the way for us to evolve into versions of ourselves that are more resilient and adaptable”.

Constitution - Stefan’s Week-Notes 14/12/2024

"Constitution, in its broadest sense, refers to the mental and physical endurance we all possess. Our constitution originates from a combination of genetic predisposition, upbringing, and life experiences. From a young age, we acquire the foundations of resilience through challenges faced in our environment, be it in the form of academic struggles, sporting competitions, or social interactions. The lessons learned during these formative years shape our ability to cope with adversity and adapt to change".

““When you witness how ecological diversity enhances resilience and adaptability in nature, you may become inspired to advocate for similar principles within your organisation.

Biodiversity, much like a well-functioning corporation, thrives on variety and collaboration, suggesting that a diverse corporate environment can lead to greater innovation and problem-solving abilities”

“This week I read a brilliant article on Decision-making in the Broadening perspectives on risk article from the British Psychological Society. What particularly stood out for me within the context of decision making and preventing group bias were the elements of a ‘critical friend’ and ‘reflective practice’. As a coach; thats just the world I believe we should all be operating in”

“Societal Focus. What this means for me, is that they can at least unconsciously connect the work they do and the change they want to make to everyone in ‘their’ society i.e. their team and organisation and explain this to those around them. The real growth, through coaching comes in being able to consciously do this across their organisation developing a string foundation for sector wide and cross sector influence”.
